CINCINNATI — The National Safety Council, the nation’s premier authority on safety and injury prevention, recognized four First Student drivers with the organization’s “Safe Driver Award of Honor” for their outstanding driving records and dedication to safety. The First Student drivers were honored by the organization, along with 142 additional private sector transportation drivers from across the United States, for driving a minimum of 15 years or 250,000 miles without a preventable accident.

The First Student drivers honored by the National Safety Council are Roy Lineberry of Charleston, Ill.; Michelle Tate of Naperville, Ill.; Brenda Taylor of Dalton, Ga.; and Daisy Walker of Naperville, Ill.

“To posses the driving and safety records these drivers have is a tremendous accomplishment,” said Linda Burtwistle, president of First Student, Inc. “Their commitment to the safety of the students they transport is unparalleled, and is something every driver should seek to emulate.”

Each of the First Student drivers recognized has extensive experience in the student transportation industry. Roy Lineberry has more than 23 years of experience, while Michelle Tate has 20 years and Daisy Walker has 21 years. Brenda Taylor has more than 30 years of service without missing a day of work.

At First Student, the safety and security of the students is our core value. The company is dedicated to providing students with safe and reliable transportation. Our drivers undergo extensive training to ensure they provide safe transportation. New drivers with the company must complete in-classroom, behind-the-wheel and safety orientation training before driving one of our buses. In addition to state and school district-mandated training, First Student also conducts monthly in-service meetings throughout the year to discuss various safety topics as well as review company policies and procedures.
