CINCINNATI — First Student, the nation’s leader in student transportation, has named George Gans contract manager for the company’s Columbus, Ohio location. Gans will oversee all transportation operations, including safety, maintenance and training, for First Student’s contract with the Columbus City Schools. He brings extensive management and transportation experience to his new role.
“George is a welcome addition to the First Student team,” said Scott Turney, region operations manager, First Student. “His transportation and leadership experience, combined with his knowledge of Columbus City Schools are certain to help strengthen the relationships we have with the schools, employees and students we work with in the city.”
Most recently, Gans was the general manager and compliance officer for W.C. Brunk/V.A.T., where he managed the company’s day-to-day transportation operations for the Columbus City Schools. While there, he created driver procedure guidelines that emphasized safety, designed and implemented a new billing and collection system, and reduced employee turnover.
Gans holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences from The Ohio State University.
