First Student Locations in New Hampshire Recognized for Outstanding Inspection Performance

May 3, 2011

Locations in Plaistow, Milford and Bristol Honored for High Achievement in First Time Pass Rates.

CINCINNATI — The New Hampshire School Transportation Association (NHSTA) recognized First Student locations in Plaistow, Milford and Bristol, N.H., for outstanding achievement in maintenance performance. Each location earned an exceptional first-time pass rate from the New Hampshire State Police during their school bus inspections for the school year ending in August 2010. The locations and employees were honored at NHSTA’s annual School Bus State Inspections Awards banquet in April.

“At First Student, we understand the tremendous responsibility parents place in us everyday to safely transport their children to and from school, and we take that very seriously,” said Jim Castelli, senior vice president of operations for First Student. “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of these employees that our buses are maintained at the highest levels, ensuring they operate at optimal conditions.”

First Student Plaistow received a 100 percent pass rate, while Milford and Bristol received 97 percent and 95 percent respectively.

The 2,600 school buses operating in New Hampshire are inspected twice a year. According to the state police, the buses transport approximately 11 million miles each year and transport 169,000 students to and from school daily.

First Student maintenance teams perform regularly scheduled and ongoing vehicle maintenance checks to ensure our buses are in top condition. Each First Student bus follows a stringent daily, monthly and annual vehicle maintenance program. Additionally, each driver conducts a multi-point inspection of their buses prior to beginning their route, using the latest technology to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
