First Student Hosting Job Fair to Find School Bus Drivers to Serve the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) in Hartford, Conn.

Company seeking safety-focused drivers and diesel technicians to join team.

CINCINNATI — First Student, Inc., the nation’s leader in student transportation, is holding a job fair on Saturday, June 11 to find qualified applicants for part-time school bus driver positions at its Hartford, East Hartford and Suffield, Conn. locations. The company is seeking approximately 300 drivers as well as 10 diesel technicians to serve First Student’s expanded contract with the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC). The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the company’s East Hartford facility located at 359 Burnham Street.

First Student seeks applicants who are committed to providing safe transportation and excellent customer service. In addition, applicants should have genuine, caring attitudes for children and a commitment to serving the community. Applicants with or without a commercial driver’s license (CDL) are encouraged to apply as the company will provide all necessary training.

Prospective candidates must be at least 21 years old and able to pass all background checks and drug screens. Driver applicants must have at least three years of driving experience and possess a valid state driver’s license. They must be able to safely transport students in a timely manner and complete all pre- and post-trip shift activities. Applicants should possess a sincere desire to work with the public, follow all traffic and corporate regulations, and meet additional company requirements. 

The company also seeks 10 full-time diesel technicians. Technicians must also be at least 21 years old, able to pass all background checks and drug screens, have a valid state driver’s license and have or be able to obtain a CDL. In addition, technician applicants must have a combination of education and technical experience, including a minimum of 1-2 diesel service and fleet experience. 

First Student offers competitive wages and a flexible, set schedule. Drivers are not required to work on nights, weekends or holidays.
