First Student Adds 41 New Buses to Its Springfield Fleet

March 2, 2012

CINCINNATI — Dozens of new school buses are on the roads in Springfield, MA. First Student, the largest provider of school transportation in North America, has added 41 new buses to its fleet to safely and securely transport students in the Springfield School District.

Thomas Built manufactured 28 of the buses. The Safe-T-Liner buses are newly designed with a focus on added safety and comfort, as well as cleaner emissions. The enlarged front window offers drivers greater visibility. Deeper seats and larger windows provide students with a more enjoyable ride. In addition, the new buses boast a footprint of near-zero nitrogen oxide emission. Nitrogen oxide contributes to acid rain, smog and greenhouse gas levels.

“First Student is an industry leader when it comes to technology,” said Ted Leclerc First Student area general manager for Southern New England. “Safety is our foremost concern, so we continually look to make the experience of riding the bus even better for students.”

First Student also integrated 13 new mini-buses into its Springfield fleet. The new buses began transporting students in February.
