    First Student Locations in New Hampshire Recognized for Outstanding Inspection Performance

    The New Hampshire School Transportation Association (NHSTA) recognized First Student locations in Plaistow, Milford and Bristol, N.H., for outstanding achievement in maintenance performance. Each location earned an exceptional first-time pass rate from the New Hampshire State Police during their school bus inspections for the school year ending in August 2010. The locations and employees were honored at NHSTA's annual School Bus State Inspections Awards banquet in April.

    First Student Grandview Holding Donation Drive to Aid Alabama Tornado Relief

    First Student in Grandview is holding a "Stuff the Bus" to collect non-perishable food, paper goods, toiletries and cleaning supplies for those affected by the tornados in Alabama. Staff members are collecting donations now through Friday, May 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the First Student location at 301 Duck Road in Grandview. Donated items will be given to the Red Cross for distribution to those in need. While Grandview is the primary location for the drive, donations can be made at any area First Student location.     Recently, 200 members of UrbanPromise, a local ministry for children and teens, participated in the Soul Moving Experience for the team's home opener against the Tampa Bay Storm on April 15.     The Capitol Region Education Council Awards School Transportation Contract to First Student

    First Student, Inc., the nation's leader in student transportation, was recently awarded a five-year contract to provide student transportation to the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) in Hartford, Conn. CREC manages the regional transportation system for the Connecticut State Department of Education's Regional School Choice Office (RSCO) in response to the Sheff v. O'Neill desegregation efforts. First Student will provide student transportation as needed during the summer, before providing transportation for 360 routes at the start of the 2011-2012 school year. The company seeks more than 450 safety-orientated, qualified drivers, as well as technicians and management staff to fill newly created positions to serve CREC's contract.

    On Sunday, April 17, the Village of Greendale, Wis. and the family and friends of Ava Marie Zimmerman will host the AVA Walk. This two-mile walk honors the five-year old who was tragically killed in 2010 while walking with her family in a crosswalk.
