First Student Awarded Student Transportation Contract for North DuPage Special Education Cooperative in Bloomingdale, Ill.
CINCINNATI— First Student, Inc., the nation’s leader in student transportation, has been awarded a contract to provide student transportation for the North DuPage Special Education Cooperative, beginning August 1, 2009. The Cooperative serves eight school districts in this suburban county west of Chicago. First Student is part of Cincinnati-based FirstGroup America, North America’s largest transportation company.
The contract is a three-year agreement which includes the operation, maintenance and management of a fleet of 46 vehicles that will transport special education students at schools throughout the northern portions of DuPage County. First Student will equip the buses with some of the industry’s latest technologies, including a high-definition GPS tracking system, which is invaluable in managing on-time performance while providing the exact location and speed of the school bus at any time. In addition, the electronic Child Check-Mate/Theft-Mate™ system, which reminds drivers to check for sleeping children and also serves as an anti-theft device, will be installed on all buses.
