First Student Helps ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Provide Home for Buffalo Family

CINCINNATI, December 15, 2009 - First Student, Inc., the nation’s leader in student transportation, recently came to the aid of ABC’s hit television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” as they built a home for a Buffalo, NY family in need. First Student was called upon to provide transportation to more than 4,500 volunteers who worked day and night to complete this enormous task, as well as the thousands of spectators who arrived to see the reveal of the new home.

First Student drivers, led by Charter Manager Terri Hans, organized shuttle service for eight days. Buses ran at least 12 hours per day, with four of those days necessitating 24 hours a day service.

“Everyone was so excited and pumped up to help with the show,” said Hans. “I want to thank the drivers who helped with the shuttles, as well as those who covered our normal school routes during the week. Their professional attitudes and dedication behind the scenes helped us complete this task.”

The Buffalo episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is scheduled to air in January 2010. While the team may not receive on-air credit, First Student played a crucial part in creating a new home for a local family in need.
