First Student Drivers to Be Recognized For Their Dedication to Safety

March 7, 2012

CINCINNATI — First Student Canada joins five Rogers Media radio stations, including KISS FM and CHEZ 106, along with the Westgate Shopping Centre for “Thank a School Bus Driver Day” in Ottawa. The event is Saturday, March 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Westgate Shopping Center.

Drivers will be recognized during a special ceremony hosted by KISS FM personality Jeff Graham. Ottawa mayor Jim Watson, along with Vicky Kyriaco, General Manager of the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority, and Sophia Hanafi, Executive Director of the Ottawa Safety Council are among those expected to attend.

Each driver will receive a certificate of appreciation, and one lucky driver will win a $500 shopping spree to the centre. The event is open to the public and all Ottawa area school bus drivers. First Student will be providing free transportation for First Student drivers and their families.

First Student employs more than 600 drivers in the Ottawa area. These drivers have dedicated themselves to serving the community and providing safe, reliable transportation to students.
